I don't want to even say it, but Christmas is right around the corner! At this point, it's harder to shop online - things are sold out and guaranted Christmas delivery is hard to find without paying a FORTUNE!
So, I think this is the perfect time to shop local! We shopped local on Small Business Saturday (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) and hopefully throughout the season, but now it really makes sense to shop around town. I've done some legwork to find some great house related gifts in my favorite shops. Here's a quick rundown of what I found...
604 River Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704 732-842-6611
Shutters has been around forever and is a true Fair Haven gem. It's jam packed with all types of home goods and is thoughtfully curated with a variety of price points. I've gotten some great pieces for myself and clients here over the years. I especially love their selection of wall art - really fresh and unique.
Since we're doing last minute holiday shopping, I thought I would share some great stocking stuffer ideas from Shutters.
111 East Front Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701
This is a relatively new shop on East Front Street in Red Bank - right next door to Riverview. They have everything from pillows and art, to candles and accessories, to hostess gifts. I especially fell in love with their placemats. Pictured below are my favorites: A doggie placemat, a set of placemats with a chart of the Two River area (both made out of recycled sails), and a set of round chalkboard placemats.
759 River Road, Fair Haven, NJ 07704 732-747-9455
Okay this has to be one of my favorite stores ever! Local bookstores are hard to find these days and this one is a keeper. I would much rather spend an hour poking around River Road Books than a Barnes and Noble. They've handpicked books that are rich and full of inspiration. Cookbooks, travel books, home design books, novels, non-fiction, kids books and nice little gifts. One of my favorite categories is - you guessed it - home design. Pictured below are some of my favorites...
169 West Front Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701 732-842-5400
Riverbank Antiques is right in the antiques district in Red Bank. Many of the dealers that I used to work with as an antique dealer are there so I have a special connection with this shop. I especially love the Recycled Relics and Antique Chic booths. They have a great selection of vintage chippy pieces. Very similar to what Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper uses in her designs.
Pictured below are some mercury glass ornaments and chippy frames (which can be custom made) from Recycled Relics. I also fell in love with the idea of using billiard racks on the wall to frame something smaller inside (bottom far right picture). These came from booth #37.
Don't forget to visit the other antique shops in the district. Drop me a line if you want my inside scoop on what I like best there!
169 West Front Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701 732-450-0122
Located right next to Riverbank Antiques, Carla Gizzi has an AMAZING assortment of great gifts - lots of which are very funny and light. I especially love her Jersey themed items, like soft t-shirts and recycled wood art. You can't go wrong with Jersey stuff!
15 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ 732-219-8700
This shop is relatively new to Red Bank and I have to say it's a great addition! They have a wide assortment of accessories, glassware, pillows, Dash and Albert rugs, wallpapers - the list goes on. I really love this store. You can find something for everyone on your list here - and at every price point. I was in the mood for a toddy when I was visited, so I decided to share some of my favorite bar inspired pieces.
Well, that sums up some of my favorite local finds. I wish I had time to do more poking around - there are so many more great shops to visit in the area.
I'm getting stressed thinking of all the shopping I still have to do so I gotta run!
Until next time!
