IKEA - a great place to find style and function at an awesome price. I made a scouting trip yesterday and wanted to share my picks with you!
First, if you've never been to IKEA before, here's some advice. It's really a maze but there's a method to it. You start out by going through the showrooms (take the escalator up to the second floor). Grab a pencil, tape measure and card to write notes on. As you're going around the showroom, take notes (or pictures) of what you like, noting their item number and location. You'll use this information when going through the Marketplace (on the first floor).
Once you've gone through the showrooms, you can stop for a bite to eat at the cafe. IKEA is known for their yummy meatballs. If you're an IKEA FAMILY member, you can get free coffee and tea.
When you head down to the markeplace, grab a bit shopping cart and GO! Fill it up - you can always remove what you don't want later. It's hard to circle back so if you see something you like, grab it. After check out, you'll need to bring your car around to the loading area. If you're shopping alone, you can check your cart into a locker while you get your car.
Okay - here are some of my faves from yesterday's trip!
I love this piece for kids playrooms or home offices. You can even use it as a room divider.
Okay - this is what I was most excited to see in person and it met all my expectations. Took my breath away! I had considered it for my daughter's room, but realized it would be way too big once I saw it in person. It is soooooo cool though. I love it and need to use it somewhere, somehow! Maybe an art studio or office?!?!?!
Here's a handy standing laptop station. It could be used for so many other things though. Bathroom, kitchen, craft area, office. It's a great size and nice height.
Look at all these ways to hang things - makes my heart sing!
I swear by this - it hangs in my mudroom above my sink so things can safely drip. I hang delicates, hats, mittens, bathing suits, socks, you name it. It's supposed to be an octopus (and has a little smiley face on one side) but I have it positioned so the face isn't showing and it looks like a chandelier.
Well those are my highlights. Feel free to add your own in the comments section!
