Fall is my favorite season of the year. I love the smell in the air, the cool and crisp mornings and the deep blue skies. No more hazy, hot and humid - it was a rough summer! I also LOVE that it's apple picking season. You know what they say - an apple a day! Here's my latest color palette - inspired by apples at Sickles Market.
The paint colors in this palette are Picante (006), Boston Red (SC-42)and Raspberry Truffle (2080-10). All by Benjamin Moore.
Whenever fall rolls around and the apples are ready for picking, my family heads to the local orchard where we pick a variety of apples and make my favorite apple crisp. The recipe came from my Nana's friend Toolie, hence its name, Toolie's Apple Crisp. Enjoy!
Toolie's Apple Crisp
Preheat oven to 350.
6-8 apples (a good variety of tart and sweet)
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
7 TB butter
1 TB cinnamon
Grease shallow pie dish, slice apples and add cinammon. Put in pie dish. With fingers, make streusel (mix sugar, flour and butter). Sprinkle on top of apples.
Bake in 350 oven for 35-50 minutes (depends on how thick apples are cut, oven, etc). Enjoy!
