There's no better time to use vintage than when you're entertaining so I thought I'd share some ideas on using old stuff to add fun and character to your party decor. Read below to get inspired!
If I'm having a sit down dinner, I like to have little mini flower arrangements at each place setting. Forget going out and buying new vases and flowers though. Just look in your china cabinet and clip some greens from your yard! Small cordial or juice glasses make the perfect mini vases and you'll be amazed at what you can find growing in your yard.
A no brainer way to add some soul to your table is to mix old china, silverware and glassware with new stuff. Just stick with the same colors (like don't mix cream and white) but feel free to mix gold and silver.
Old serving platters are always easy to find at yard sales and flea markets for less than $20. You can't go wrong with silverplate or ironstone. Silver and white go with EVERYTHING!
I always love grouping old candelsticks together to make an impact. Candlelight is the most flattering light and it adds instant ambience to a space. I have some for sale on my Nest Antiques page on Etsy.
You can't beat vintage barware for adding some personality to your bar. Start with a tray (here I've used a mirror with the hardware removed). Look for old decanters, glasses and shot glasses.
That's it for now - I'd love to hear how you use vintage in your entertaining!
