Since winter is back, here are some ways you can bring greenery inside!
Cut some branches
Many spring blooming trees have their buds out so I like to do a little pruning and bring some branches inside to speed along their blooms. This is called forcing. In a couple of weeks, these guys will have flowers. Since they're in a nice warm environment, they think it's spring and will bloom. Tricked ya!
Max out the windowsill
When my neighbors cut down several trees in their yard, I had to soften the view from my kitchen window. Luckily, when I had my kitchen re-done (many years ago), I had my contractor put in super deep windowsills (about 5.5"). Now I can have a true kitchen garden! Looks a bit like a jungle, but it gives me privacy and something to look at while I'm washing dishes morning, noon and night!
Add Some Palms
I love these guys because they're hard to kill, have great scale and nice texture. I saw them at Whole Foods (Middletown location) yesterday on sale for only $14.99! Grab them while you can!
So there you have three easy ways to bring the outside in while we're waiting for spring to arrive! I'd love to hear how you're bringing greenery into your home!
Until next time!
I'm all about sharing ideas in home design, gardening and living so we can love our homes. I'm joined by my dog, Boomer, who is always by my side.
